Letter From The Owners – November 2026

The Ride Doesn’t End Here!

Who says the fun has to slow down just because the temperatures do? Sure, Michigan is trading sunny riding days for frosty mornings, colorful leaves, and the occasional reminder that winter is right around the corner. But for us, the motorcycle lifestyle is about so much more than turning the throttle. It’s about the friendships, the adventures, the places we visit, and the people who make this community feel like family. And guess what? None of that has to go into hibernation!

Of course, we’re not ready to call it quits just yet! We’re still keeping our fingers crossed for a few more warm, sunny days to squeeze in those last few miles before Mother Nature reminds us who’s really in charge around here. But whether you’re getting ready to tuck your bike away for the winter or you’re one of those diehards who rides whenever the roads allow, there’s still plenty to keep us busy during the colder months.

Winter is the perfect time to get a head start on next season! If your motorcycle is heading into hibernation, now is the time to prepare it properly for winter storage. And if your garage is already packed tighter than a bike night parking lot, check out some of the great local businesses offering winter motorcycle storage. You can free up some space at home while giving your bike a safe place to spend the winter.

This is also the perfect opportunity to tackle those upgrades, repairs, and maintenance projects you’ve been putting off all summer. Whether you enjoy turning your own wrenches or prefer leaving things in the hands of a professional, a little attention now can make a big difference when spring rolls around. Nothing beats being ready to ride while everyone else is still trying to figure out what needs fixing!

And remember, just because riding season slows down doesn’t mean we should disappear from the motorcycle community. Keep visiting those motorcycle-friendly businesses that support our riding lifestyle. They’ll be happy to see a familiar face, and your continued support helps keep these great places going through the quieter months. Don’t forget to keep using your Ride N’ Win card for savings at participating locations, either. A good deal is a good deal, no matter what the thermometer says!

Winter is also a great time to get involved, or stay involved, with your local ABATE meeting. Meet fellow riders, catch up with familiar faces, make new friends, and learn more about the work being done to protect our rights as motorcyclists. And while you’re checking your calendar, check on your riding buddies, too. A quick phone call, a visit, or an invitation to grab a cup of coffee can go a long way, especially for our veteran riders who might be missing the camaraderie of being out on the road.

Now, if you’re one of those riders who refuses to put the bike away, we haven’t forgotten about you! Use the winter months to get that maintenance handled, plan your upgrades, and start mapping out your next adventure. Maybe it’s an out-of-state rally you’ve always wanted to attend, a southern road trip to escape the Michigan cold, or finally checking that destination off your bucket list. There’s no rule saying all our riding memories have to happen in Michigan!

As always, thank you for being part of the Thunder Roads Michigan family. Whether we crossed paths at a rally, visited your business, shared a laugh, or simply connected through the pages of the magazine, we’re grateful to be part of this incredible community. Keep supporting our advertisers, stay connected with us on social media, and check www.thunderroadsmichigan.com for events and happenings worth keeping on your radar.

So, don’t look at November as the end of anything. Think of it as the beginning of planning, preparing, reconnecting, and getting ready for everything next season has waiting for us.

Keep the friendships strong, the plans rolling, and the spirit of the ride alive. And if Mother Nature gives us a decent day, you know what to do!
