Ron Finch!
I am very excited about this special edition of Thunder Roads featuring Ron Finch. My friend Denise and I made a trip to his shop and had a fun day of taking pics, hearing stories, and looking at Ron’s many many amazing creations from motorcycles to art, both indoors and out. When we arrived Ruth (Ron’s wife) had an amazing homemade lunch prepared for us. We felt right at home immediately, surrounded by their generous hospitality.
I nearly had a heart attack when I walked into the bathroom and was greeted by a very large stuffed animal serpent in the bathtub! When you’re not expecting to see a serpent, it tends to catch you off guard. What a great day and fun time we had! Sending out a special thank-you again to Ron, Ruth, and daughter Caryn.
Both Ron Finch and Vince Consiglio (President of ABATE of Michigan) are going to be inducted into the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame in August. Next month we will be interviewing and featuring Vince for all of the hard work he has done for ABATE, which directly affects us as Michigan motorcyclists.
The 6th Annual Michigan Thunder Run Ride ’n Win Contest has officially begun! Dust off those Ride Cards or sign up for a new one, but get out there and start checking in at the stops that are listed in this issue. We have some new stops this year for you to check out, along with some of our favorite places from past years. Just make sure you get your Free Ride Card and participate. There is no catch, folks—you have a chance of winning prizes at each stop and you can check in every week!
