We thought that June and July were going to be our busiest months of the year with the Mackinaw City Rally, the Rendezvous Rally, Bike Bash, and then Rebel Road in July mixed in. Don’t get me wrong, they were pretty chaotic… but August was insane, and September isn’t going to let us off easy!
At the end of July, the 3rd Annual Thunder Roads Michigan Ride to Labadie Rib Fest was a great time as always and it primed us up for August. Aly and I followed that up with a great time at the USMVMC Michigan’s 20th Anniversary on the 3rd in Maybee, MI. It ended up being a much appreciated and unexpected getaway for us. Thank you to all of their members for letting us hang around! The following weekend we joined the guys from Bikes Babes & Booze in the U.P. for the CVMA 35-1 annual ride benefiting the Michigan Veteran Homes D.J. Jacobetti. Being able to attend brought some refreshing fire to Aly and I and reinforced why we do what we do as bikers. We love our veterans! We really wanted to attend Thunder at The River but were tied down with getting this September issue off to print.
On August 20th we traveled from the “Tri-City Area” down to Sturgis, MI for the first ever TRAD-AM Moto-Jam held by Trad-Am Motorcycle Supply and had the honor of helping with emceeing the event where we met some new friends from Indiana. Hat’s off to Jeremy Burk for going all in on his side of the state and creating a fresh motorcycle buzz the southwest Michigan!
August 24th, we had the Wyld Stallions Motorcycle Build grand finale where the winner was chosen by public vote at Owosso Vintage Motorcycle Days. Since we are writing this “pretense” … We’ll just have to see who the winner is! Watch for a feature on the winner and the event in the October issue. On the same day, Aly went the other direction to ride in the 18th Annual Teddy Bear Run hosted by the American Legion Riders Sanford MI Post 443 for Covenant Kids in Saginaw. With us both being priorly committed to these events we unfortunately missed the 20th Annual Hotrods and Harley’s that happened in Mulliken, MI, BUT one of our contributors, Brendan Farren was able, and we look forward to seeing a recap from him on that weekend. Thank you to everyone that came out for the 20th Annual Akron Freedom Fest over Labor Day weekend too! Watch for a follow-up in the October issue!
We feel like we’ve been everywhere and yet like we’ve missed out on so many other great events over the season. We’ve already begun discussing 2025 and trying to figure out how we can possibly attend more in between all the bike nights, charity runs, annuals, and the Thunder Roads Michigan Magazine special events. We’ve loved seeing you all summer long and we’ll see you again soon! Watch our center calendar and our events page each month for what’s coming up!!!
