The January edition of Thunder Roads Michigan always holds a special place in our hearts. It marks the very first issue we published as the magazine’s owners back in January 2023, kicking off a brand-new adventure for Aly and me. This issue serves as a reminder of our beginnings and the milestones we’ve reached as we approach our third year. While we’re still figuring things out and have plenty of journeys ahead, we can hardly believe how far we’ve come. Aly and I exchanged wide-eyed glances when I mentioned, “It’s going to be 2025.” I initially whispered it, but the disbelief grew louder with each repetition.

Another reason the January issue is so meaningful to us is that it marked some pivotal moments for the magazine’s vision. We are incredibly thankful to those who took a chance on us and continue to support our journey. We made significant progress in 2024, and we’re eager to see where our vision and enthusiasm will take us in 2025. The January cover also holds a special tradition for us, reminding us of one of our greatest blessings—our friend Erin Fay. Erin, you’ve been with us since the very start and have played a vital role in our growth. We truly appreciate everything you’ve done and continue to do. Thank you for sharing your passion, your life, and your world of motocross, flat track, and ice racing with us and our readers. Colton and I (RJ) had an amazing time attending the Flint Indoor Ice Race and experiencing it for the first time!
Thinking of our beginnings, we couldn’t go without mentioning John B. aka Smoke. Smoke was the very first person to introduce himself at the Saddle Switch party at Ryders Bar & Grill where we first celebrated being the new owners of TRM. That might not seem to be all that important, but it is. Without knowing each other from Adam he made the voyage all the way up from the Detroit area to Midland, MI to introduce himself and offer his help. We are so happy he did. Thank you Smoke for all that you do and keeping it 100 all the time. No guess work with you. We got lucky when you chose us.

Let’s unite in growth and support of one another, no matter how big or small the gesture.
